Abstract
In dieser Arbeit beschäftigt man sich damit, was für eine Funktion das Wissen im ersten Teil von Goethes Drama Faust hat bzw. wie der Wissensdurst der Hauptgestalt im Drama dargestellt wird und was für Konsequenzen dieser nach sich zieht. Man erfährt auch, warum das Wissen überhaupt im Werk wichtig ist, in was für einer Form es im Werk vorkommt und wie Fausts Einstellung gegenüber dem Wissenserwerb ist. Die Arbeit ist in drei Kapitel gegliedert, angefangen vom ersten, einleitendem, worin man in das Thema „Wissen“ bzw. „Wissensdurst“ eingeführt wird. Im zweiten Teil erfährt man einiges zum Autor und seinem Lebenswerk, danach folgt der dritte Teil mit der analytischen Auseinandersetzung mit den Formen des Wissens in Goethes Faust und deren Erwerb. Abschließend wird die Schlussfolgerung gezogen, dass Fausts Wissensdurst als Symbol des Schaffensdranges der Menschheit niemals richtig gestillt werden kann.
Abstract (croatian)
U radu se analizira funkcija znanja u prvom dijelu Goetheove drame Faust, odnosno razmatra na koji je način u drami prikazana žeđ za znanjem glavnog lika i kakve su njene posljedice. S tim u vezi analizira se zašto je znanje uopće bitno u tom djelu, u kojim se oblicima ondje pojavljuje i kakav je stav Fausta prema stjecanju takva znanja. Rad se sastoji od tri poglavlja. U prvom se uvodno obrađuje tema znanja i žeđi za znanjem, u drugom se daju osnovne informacije o autoru i nastanku njegova djela. U trećem se poglavlju analiziraju pojedini oblici u kojima se znanje pojavljuje u djelu te razmatra Faustov stav spram stjecanja znanja. U završnom se dijelu rada iznosi zaključak da je Faustova žeđ za znanjem kao simbol čovječanstva neutaživa.
