Abstract
Cilj je ovog rada istražiti odnos stilova regulacije afekata i posttraumatskoga rasta (eng. posttraumatic growth) kod profesionalnih pomagača u kontekstu pandemije korona virusa. Pri tome je provjeravano u kojoj su mjeri različite aktivne i pasivne strategije samoregulacije afekata povezane s posttraumatskim rastom. Nadalje, provjeravano je i u kojoj mjeri strategije samoregulacije afekata mogu predvidjeti posttraumatski rast. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 335 osoba različitih pomagačkih struka u dobi od 25 do 69 godina. Od instrumenata su korišteni Upitnik posttraumatskog rasta (PGI; Tedeschi i Calhoun, 1996) i Mjera stilova regulacije afekata (MARS; Larsen i Prizmic, 2004). Korelacijska analiza pokazuje su kako su osobe koje su kao strategiju regulacije afekata češće koristile kognitivni angažman izvještavale o većem stupnju percipiranog posttraumatskog rasta. Također, opaženo je i kako je kognitivni angažman jedina strategija koja je pozitivno povezana sa svim aspektima posttraumatskog rasta dok je ponašajni angažman u pozitivnom odnosu s aspektom rasta u području novih mogućnosti. Isto tako, strategija izražavanja afekata pozitivno je povezana s područjem posttraumatskog rasta koja obuhvaća odnose s drugima dok su ruminacija i prihvaćanje u pozitivnoj korelaciji s dimenzijom duhovnosti. Konačno, nakon provedene hijerarhijske regresijske analize u svrhu predviđanja posttraumatskog rasta, kao jedini značajni prediktor koji pripada aktivnim strategijama regulacije afekata pokazala se kognitivna angažiranost, dok su se sve pasivne strategije pokazale neznačajnima. Rezultati ovog istraživanja objašnjavaju kako strategija kognitivne angažiranosti, u odnosu na druge pasivne i aktivne strategije regulacije afekata ima važniju ulogu u objašnjavanju i potencijalno, u predviđanju pojave posttraumatskog rasta.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between affect regulation styles and post-traumatic growth in professional helpers in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. The extent to which different active and passive strategies of affect self-regulation are related to posttraumatic growth was examined. In addition, the extent to which affect selfregulation strategies can predict posttraumatic growth was examined. 335 individuals from various helping professions, aged 25 to 69 years, participated in the study. The instruments used were the Posttraumatic Growth Questionnaire and the Measure of Affect Regulation Styles. The results of the correlational analysis showed that individuals who more frequently used cognitive engagement as an affect regulation strategy reported higher levels of perceived posttraumatic growth. Moreover, cognitive engagement was found to be the only strategy positively related to all aspects of posttraumatic growth, whereas behavioral engagement was positively related to the aspect of growth in new opportunities. Similarly, the affect expression strategy is positively related to the posttraumatic growth domain involving relationships with others, whereas rumination and acceptance are positively correlated with the spirituality dimension. A hierarchical regression analysis predicting posttraumatic growth revealed that cognitive engagement was the only significant predictor belonging to the active strategies of affect regulation, while all passive strategies were found to be nonsignificant. The results of this study suggest that the strategy of cognitive engagement plays a more important role in predicting and explaining posttraumatic growth compared to other passive and active strategies of affect regulation.
