Abstract
Die Begriffe Denotation und Konnotation wurden durch die Geschichte auf unterschiedliche Art und Weise untersucht und bearbeitet. Besonders die Konnotation macht den Sprachwissenschaftlern Probleme, so dass es noch heute keine klare Definition des Begriffs gibt. Diese Abschlussarbeit bietet einen Überblick über die wichtigsten Theorien im Bezug auf Denotation und Konnotation. In der Arbeit wird sowohl die Abgrenzung der Denotation von dem Referenz, als auch der Konnotation von der Assoziation definiert. In dem praktischen Teil der Arbeit wird die Konnotation des Wortes Brexit in den kroatischen und deutschen Magazinen analysiert und zwar im Bezug auf Leonard Bloomfields Definition der Konnotation im Rahmen des Kontexts.
