Abstract
Cilj ovoga istraživanja bio je ispitati odnos sociodemografskih karakteristika i suočavanja s boli s kvalitetom života bolesnika s kroničnim glavoboljama, te ispitati predviđaju li i u kojoj mjeri sociodemografske karakteristike i suočavanje s boli kvalitetu života bolesnika s kroničnim glavoboljama. Sudionici istraživanja bili su pacijenti Ambulante za glavobolju u Osijeku, Ambulante za terapiju boli i Neurološke ambulante u Vinkovcima s glavoboljama, te osobe s glavoboljama prikupljene izvan bolnice metodom „snježne grude“. Uzorak je činilo je 96 sudionika, 79 žena i 17 muškaraca u dobi od 18 do 84 godina. Korištena su tri upitnika: Opći upitnik o sociodemografskim obilježjima, WHOQOL – BREF za mjerenje kvalitete života i PCCL za mjerenje kognicija i suočavanja s boli. Rezultati su pokazali da postoji povezanost između različitih domena kvalitete života i nekih sociodemografskih karakteristika, varijabli vezanih uz glavobolje, te katastrofiziranja. Nakon kontrole sociodemografskih karakteristika i varijabli vezanih uz obilježja glavobolja, katastrofiziranje se pokazalo najsnažnijim prediktorom kvalitete života u svim domenama, kao i medijatorom povezanosti broja glavobolja i fizičkog zdravlja, te postojanja drugih bolesti i psihičkog zdravlja. Ovi rezultati nude praktične implikacije za poboljšavanje kvalitete života osoba s kroničnim glavoboljama djelovanjem na kognicije.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics and pain coping and quality of life in patients with chronic headaches and to examine whether socio-demographic characteristics and pain coping predict quality of life and to what extent. The sample consisted of 96 participants, 79 female and 17 male, aged between 18 and 84. Some of them were patients in three headache clinics in Osijek and Vinkovci and the others were collected with „snowball“ method outside the hospital. The following instruments were used: General questionnaire about socio-demographic characteristics, WHOQOL-BREF to measure quality of life and PCCL as measure of pain coping and cognition. The results indicate that there is a significant correlation between quality of life and some of the socio-demographic characteristics, some variables related to headaches and catastrophizing. After controlling socio-demographic and headache-related variables, catastrophizing emerged as the strongest predictor of quality of life in all domains, and also as mediator of the association between number of headaches and physical health and between presence of other illnesses and psychological health. These results offer practical implications in improving quality of life of patients with chronic headaches by acting on the cognitions.
