Abstract
Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati odnos izvršnih funkcija inhibicije i radnog pamćenja i transakcijskog i transformacijskog stila rukovođenja, uz kontrolu osobina ličnosti. Istraživanje je provedeno online, na uzorku od 55 rukovoditelja, od kojih je 15 muškog te 40 ženskog spola, u dobi od 31 do 64 godine te 110 njihovih neposredno podređenih zaposlenika, od kojih je 10 muškog te 100 ženskog spola, u dobi od 24 do 63 godine. Rukovoditelji su pomoću upitnika procjenjivali svoje teškoće u izvršnim funkcijama inhibicije i radnog pamćenja i osobine ličnosti te su za procjenu sposobnosti izvršne funkcije inhibicije rješavali Stroopov zadatak, a za procjenu sposobnosti izvršne funkcije radnog pamćenja N-unatrag zadatak. Njihovi su podređeni pomoću upitnika procjenjivali teškoće u izvršnim funkcijama inhibicije i radnog pamćenja kod rukovoditelja i njihove stilove rukovođenja. Hijerarhijskom regresijskom analizom utvrđeno je kako su teškoće inhibicije mjerene samoprocjenama značajan negativan prediktor transakcijskog stila rukovođenja, da su teškoće radnog pamćenja mjerene procjenama od strane podređenih značajan negativan prediktor i transakcijskog i transformacijskog stila rukovođenja te da su teškoće inhibicije mjerene procjenama od strane drugih i teškoće radnog pamćenja mjerene samoprocjenama značajni pozitivni prediktori transakcijskog stila rukovođenja. Istraživanjem nije potvrđena prediktivnost ostalih mjera sa stilovima rukovođenja. Ovo istraživanje može dati velik doprinos znanstvenoj literaturi kao smjernica za daljnja teorijska istraživanja. Treba uzeti u obzir nedostatke ovog istraživanja te provesti dodatna istraživanja kako bi se odnos izvršnog funkcioniranja i stilova rukovođenja bolje razjasnio. To može pomoći pri razvijanju strategija selekcije rukovoditelja te doprinijeti prilagodbi razvojnih intervencija koje bi mogle maksimizirati njihovu uspješnost.
Abstract (english)
The study aimed to examine the relationship between inhibition and working memory and the transactional and transformational leadership style, while controlling for personality. The research was conducted online, on a sample of 55 leaders (15 male and 40 female), aged 31 to 64, and 110 of their subordinates (10 male and 100 female), aged 24 to 63. Leaders assessed their executive functions deficits and personality traits using questionnaires; Stroop task was used to assess their inhibition, and N-back task was used to assess their working memory. Their subordinates assessed their leaders’ executive functions deficits and their leadership styles using questionnaires. The results of the hierarchical regression analysis showed that inhibition deficits assessed by self-rating were a significant negative predictor of transactional leadership style, working memory deficits assessed by subordinates were a significant negative predictor of both transactional and transformational leadership style, and that inhibition deficits assessed by subordinates, and working memory deficits assessed by self-rating were a significant positive predictor of transactional leadership style. The predictability of other measures with leadership styles was not confirmed. This research can make a great contribution to the scientific literature as a guideline for further theoretical research. Limitations of this research should be taken into account and additional research should be conducted to better clarify the relationships between executive functioning and leadership styles. This could enhance selection strategies for leaders, and contribute to the adaptation of interventions that could maximize their performance
