Abstract
Cilj ovog rada bio je ispitati odnos emocionalne inteligencije, samopoštovanja i samohendikepiranja. U istraživanju je sudjelovao 231 student (68,8% ženskog i 31,2% muškog spola) s nekoliko različitih fakulteta Sveučilišta Josipa Jurja Strossmayera u Osijeku. Tijekom redovite nastave studenti su popunili više instrumenata tipa papir-olovka: Test upravljanja emocijama (Buško i Babić Čikeš, 2013), Upitnik emocionalne kompetentnosti (UEK-45; Takšić, 2002), Rosenbergovu skalu samopoštovanja (prilagođena prema Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965), Bezinović, 1988), Upitnik za procjenu samohendikepiranja (Smederevac, Mitrović, Topić i Vuk, 2009) i upitnik demografskih podataka sastavljen za potrebe istraživanja. Rezultati pokazuju da je EI pozitivno povezana sa samopoštovanjem, a negativno sa samohendikepiranjem, dok su samopoštovanje i samohendikepiranje međusobno negativno povezani. Također, hijerahijskom regresijskom analizom utvrđeno je da su EI i samopoštovanje statistički značajni negativni prediktori samohendikepiranja, pri čemu je utjecaj samopoštovanja znatno snažniji.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence, self-esteem and self-handicapping. The study was conducted on a sample of 231 students (68,8% female and 31,2% male) from different faculties at the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer of Osijek. During classes, students filled out the following instruments with paper-and-pencil method: Emotion Management Test (Buško & Babić Čikeš, 2013), Emotional Competence Questionnaire (UEK-45; Takšić, 2002), Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (1965; adjusted by Bezinović, 1988), Self-handicapping Questionnaire (Smederevac, Mitrović, Topić, & Vuk, 2009) and a short questionnaire on demographic data made for the purposes of this research. The results show that emotional intelligence correlates positively with self-esteem and negatively with self-handicapping, while self-esteem and self-handicapping correlate negatively. Also, hierarchical regression analysis revealed that emotional intelligence and self-esteem are statistically significant negative predictors of self-handicapping, while the effect of self-esteem is considerably stronger.
