Abstract
Faust je romantičarski dramski spjev koji osim romantičarskog svjetonazora sadrži i sve elemente romantizma te postaje njegovo ogledno djelo. Tradicija se ironizira u svrhu opisivanja tadašnjeg građanskog društva, a duhovnost je prikazana kroz vječnu borbu dobra i zla, borbu između čovjeka i njegove prirode. Pritom do izražaja dolazi poetika romantizma koja elementima fantastike, mitološkim bićima i variranjem između ontoloških stanja donosi bezvremensku poistovjećenost sadašnjeg čitatelja s Faustom kao pojedincem koji predstavlja čovječanstvo.
